Incredible mid/late 1970s suede jacket! Made by McDouglas, a Parisian luxury leather goods brand, for Hollywood boutique Charles Gallay. The shop was opened by a husband and wife duo in 1971 and quickly became *the* spot for avant garde fashion in Los Angeles. The Gallays counted among their clients Diana Ross, Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Farrah Fawcett. Designers carried included Zhandra Rhodes, Jean Muir, Karl Lagerfeld, Margiela. In the early 1990s, Gallay was the very first to carry Rick Owens, essentially launching Owens’ career. He was also one of the first to sell Adeline Alaia’s designs, and eventually owned and operated Alaia’s retail store.
