Amazing early 1930s nightgown that would make a beautiful maxi dress! It’s made of crisp white cotton, has a tie back waist, and beautiful pastel pink and blue trapunto /embroidered detailing around the collar. This style of needlework, done in Puerto Rico, was popular during the 1920s and 30s, especially in lingerie and loungewear. You can watch a quick video about the Puerto Rican textile industry during that era here(It does contain some very 1930s commentary about colonialism and gender, but I thought it was cool to see the women at work)

This piece was deadstock with the original label and price tags attached when I found it. I did have to remove them to soak it though, because it had some pretty gnarly storage staining. But I’m pleased to report that it came out good as new! I saved the tags and will include them with your purchase.

The last two photos are from the Sears catalog in 1932 and 34!
